A Place

The scene from the forest floor

offered a map to places

created by imaginations

My eyes followed the fingerlike branches

to each destination

crooked gray streets against a blue ocean

the stream near me offered a rhytmic song

never changing tunes

A distant woodpecker played a dead tree

A herd of deer, could not see me, they spoke to each other

with snorts and whistles, i could not understand

A hawk drifted across the canvas, silently

and then, I closed my eyes

and breathed in the surrounding peace

it consumed me, and i was in A Place

beautiful as the home

of celestial stars

Each breath filled my chest with calm

I did not want to open my eyes

and leave this place

She was there, The One

An airplane burst across the sky

the setting sun reflected off this un natural beast

and poked me in the eye

distorted the perfect painting

the moment was over

there will be another day.....
